Merge Duplicate Accounts

 Goal

Duplicate accounts may exist in the system due to mistypes, misspellings, nick-names and abbreviations.  Merge duplicate accounts to protect the integrity of customer data.

After reading this article you will be able to

  • Navigate to potential duplicate accounts
  • Merge Duplicate Accounts

Attention Users,
Salesforce has two different desktop user interfaces: Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic. This article is designed for Lightning Experience.

Step One: Navigate to Potential Duplicates

1. Click the App Launcher icon

2.  Type Accounts in the Quick search field

3. Click the Accounts link

4. Select an account

5.  If you have potential duplicates click the  View Duplicates link

Step Two: Merging Duplicate Accounts

1. Select the account(s) you would like to merge by selecting two or more check boxes

2. Click Next

3. Select the fields you would like to overwrite

4. Click Next

5. Click the Merge Person Accounts button
